Community Center Garden – This garden was established ten years ago, designed by Shelia Wertheiner to be a deer-proof garden planted for the enjoyment of the entire community of East Lyme. While hidden behind the Senior Center, it can be viewed through the tall glass door wall near the inside library entrance, and is
a source of beauty and relaxation for all who view or stop to visit or read in it. The East Lyme Garden Club has maintained the garden and added plants and bulbs over the years to increase its overall appearance and interest. The seniors have also contributed with the addition of hummingbird feeders and bluebird houses. Take a walk behind the Senior Center, sit a while and enjoy. The Garden Club has also planted hundreds of naturalized daffodils throughout the woods around the Community Center over the years as well as about 500 mixed bulbs in the Children’s Memorial Garden for bloom in the spring of 2009.
