The Cadets are open to youth (male/female) ages 13-20 years of age whom are interested in learning about the field of Law Enforcement.  We take several trips per year.  The youth learn about firearms safety and participate in competitions with other youths from around the Northeast.  They attend bi-weekly training sessions where they learn about various aspects of police work.  As the youths become older, they are allowed to ride with various officers during regular patrol to observe the day to day activities.  The youths also have the opportunity to attend a week long police academy run by over 100 police officers from CT, NY, RI, MA and NH. 

All funding for this program is strictly through donations and grants if available.  The East Lyme Police Cadets are a 501(c)3 non-profit which means that most donations are tax deductable on your federal taxes.
