EAST LYME POOL FOUNDATION OFFERS SCHOLARSHIPS

The East Lyme Aquatic & Fitness Center Foundation, Inc., a newly established organization, is now underway accepting pool scholarship applications from residents of East Lyme and Salem at the East Lyme Aquatic and Fitness Center pool at the East Lyme High School. Financial assistance provided through this new scholarship program will support membership, program lessons, fitness programs and sports camp activities of the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
As announced by Foundation president Mark Powers, the Foundation was established in December 2009 as a charitable organization to enable the Center to better serve the entire community of East Lyme. It received confirmation of its 501 (c) (3) status as a public charity from the Internal Revenue Service in February 2011, which allows all contributions to be tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Other members of the pool scholarship committee are Loretta McIlhenny, Vice President; Jan Logozzo, Secretary; and Tim Hagen, Treasurer.

Financial aid is based on need and interest; selection of recipients will be made by the Scholarship Committee. Applications must be returned no later than ten days before the beginning of the program for which the scholarship is being requested. Scholarship applications are available at the pool, East Lyme High School, 30 Chesterfield Road, East Lyme, CT 06333.
In support of its public service mission, the non-profit Foundation is accepting donations from interested supporters. Checks should be payable to East Lyme Aquatic & Fitness Center Foundation, Inc. and mailed to Pool Scholarship Committee, East Lyme Aquatic & Fitness Center Foundation, Inc., 30 Chesterfield Road, East Lyme, CT 06333, or dropped off at the pool.
